    • Small ruminant Breed Competition Andhra Pradesh

    • The annual breed show cum Jatra of Deccani sheep and Osmanabadi goats was organized from January 23rd to February 12th, 2010 in Medak District of Andhra Pradesh. The competitions were organized at three levels; the village, Mandal or Block and a final competition at the district level. Shepherd sanghams from 20 villages proudly participated in the competition and entered their best animals. About 300 animals were entered in the competition. Shepherd Sanghams were also awarded community prizes under different categories, for collective efforts in rearing and conserving the breed. On the final day Dr Khwaja Moinuddin, Joint Director, Animal Husbandry, Medak district presided over the function and gave away the prizes.
