    • Healing Hands

    • Healing Hands a short dance film choreographed by Radhika Muley which begins with the dancer expressing the feeling of care to those around her  and in response to her surroundings . Gradually as the situation around her becomes difficult she reaches out spinning faster and faster until she becomes rigid and collapses out of exhaustion . After a while she slowly picks herself up and begins  her journey towards self care  which is made possible with the help of  the 5 elements – earth, water, fire, air and space and finally ends  in a state of calmness and balance. The piece ends with a  Sanskrit Shloka from the Rigveda  – “these hands are healers, they are the touch of warmth and care…they need to be respected and taken care of”.

This dance was presented online at the 8th International degrowth Conference in a session entitled” A world without Care : Fault Lines from the Covid 19 pandemic  was an interactive session under the theme Feminist Political Ecology “

The session asked the question Could we look at society differently? Could we imagine a world where “care” isn’t pushed to the margins and the peripheries but is firmly brought to center?  and proposed an exchange  on how the post-pandemic era could link movements currently working separately to jointly create an integrated approach to care and public well-being.
