Eco Fair Trade Dialogue
Dr. Sagari Ramdas and Dr. Nitya Ghotge participated in the Eco Fair dialogue in Prague the Czech Republic. The EcoFair Trade Dialogue is an awareness raising and advocacy project jointly carried out by Misereor, the Prague Global Policy Institute (Glopolis) and the Heinrich Böll Foundation. It aims to enrich the debate on the reform of agricultural trade. Initiated in 2005 the project set off an international dialogue process which aimed to develop an alternative framework for socially fair and ecological sustainable international agricultural trade rules. For the coming years (2010 – 2013) the main objective of the project is to build up a broad alliance for fair and sustainable trade rules. Participants for the international conference were from many countries of Europe, Burkina Faso and Kenya in Africa, Philippines and India in Asia. The debates around global agricultural and livestock trade, reforms in agriculture policy especially the Common Agricultural Policy were discussed in detail.
