Anthra sheep find a new home
Anthras flock of Deccani sheep in Maharashtra have found a new home in Pune district. The fodder scarcity in Solapur district forced us to relocate the sheep to the Pabal field center next to the local hostel for girls The girls are delighted to have the sheep and lambs in their midst and the sheep seem to be doing well with the extra attention they are receiving. Sangeeta, Vilas and Ghare who had never herded sheep before have been acquiring new skills.but claim they have enjoyed the experience The delayed rains in Pune and neighbouring districts has meant that there isn’t much grass available in the commons and shepherds have had to rework their annual migration schedules and make alternate arrangements for fodder.
